If you’re curious about the sonification of geophysical data, I have some great updates about an event you cannot miss: “A jam session with Vesuvius”, organized by the team of EMusic - the Sound of the Earth in collaboration with the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), the Order of Geologists of Campania and Aarhus Geofisica srl. Mount Vesuvius, the volcano located in the beautiful Gulf of Naples (Campania, Italy), will be probed with electromagnetic pulses (up to a depth of hundreds of meters). The volcanic edifice is going to act as a filter for these waves, returning a unique response, which depends on the nature of rocks that make up the volcano. Such response will be then translated to music by means of an algorithm designed by the team of EMusic. On these notes, will perform the Marco Guidolotti SAX!

This unmissable event is scheduled for next July 10, from 18.00 to 21.00.

More info here (in Italian) and here (the Facebook event url, in Italian).
